Andy Tang graduated from National Taiwan University with a degree of electrical engineering in 2008. While working in the solar industry for three years, Andy noticed the rising business in solar plants. He decided to found New Green Power in 2012 and was able to successfully enter the Japanese market. Policies and objectives for energy transition began after Cai Yingwen became president in 2016. At this time, Andy started to expand his Company to a larger scale. During recruitment, he looked for employees with skills in all areas and strived to form stronger teams that can compete with other solar industries.
Speaking of this year’s entrepreneurship opportunities, Andy Tang says that solar panels are already in high demand worldwide, and will be even more popular in the future. Similar quality solar panels have different prices, but the most downstream systems need to integrate development, construction, and transportation. These systems also need to know the law, as in writing a contract to mitigate risk, which does not have standard answers and every construction plan needs to be unique and interesting.
When asked the biggest challenge in the industry, Andy Tang responded and said the changes in law. He states that every solar company more or less is influenced by the recent laws related to limiting the use of agricultural land for solar projects, but he can also understand why the council of agriculture is so strict in these limitations. Andy is also aware that he can only find a way out and strive towards energy transition. He has currently been trying to solve this problem through symbiosis of fisheries and electricity. New Green Power is looking for professionals who know how to cultivate fisheries to build new sustainable power plants.
